The Gospel is that
through the death of Jesus Christ my self-focused life can die so that I can
get a life of joy, peace and freedom which is focused on Christ and other
people. The Gospel sets me free so that I
don't have to be selfish anymore, I don't have to be angry anymore, I don't
have to be afraid anymore, I don’t have to feel rejected anymore, I don't have
to feel cheated anymore and I don’t have to feel alone, unloved and worthless
anymore. Because I died through baptism, it is impossible to have these
feelings of “self”; a dead person cannot have feelings! Then why do many
Christians still have these issues? If they cannot distinguish between thoughts
from their mind and their spirit, between lies and truth, then satan has the
door to overpower their minds, them and keep them in bondage to their old self-focused
lives. They will still have the same issues that they had before they came to
Christ, and they can become disappointed in the Gospel. But a Christian is trained in truth and
righteousness who is able to distinguish between the voice of the enemy and the
voice of Holy Spirit, can live the life promised in the Gospel. This life is lived
entirely for Jesus; it’s not about me, my dreams, my desires, my circumstances
or comfort anymore. You ask Jesus where He wants you to go and what He wants
you to do. You give up your old life so that you can get to enjoy your new
life, you are free and you have peace, you have fun loving people. You get a Companion (Holy Spirit), you are
extremely loved and you leave a legacy unto eternity! My responsibility is to
train my mind in truth with the help of Holy Spirit to understand how amazing I
have been made, that I am stronger than darkness, sin, fear and depression.
That I am created by God so that He can love me, so that I can love Him, and so
that I can love others!

A.1) Introduction:
This Discipleship course is
intended to be used by people who are young Christians or people who have been
struggling in their Christian walk to get to maturity, who are struggling with
issues from their past, who feel that things happened to them that are holding
them back, who feel that they are not free, who struggle with sins or
addictions, who struggle with negativity (like depression, fear, loneliness, etc.)
or who struggle to find their Christian calling and purpose in life. This course will assist you to have an
intimate relationship with God, to find the freedom that the Gospel provided
for all of us, and it will help you to transform your life through the Gospel
of Jesus Christ.
The diagram on the front
page summarizes the content of this document: There is an amazing correlation between the strategy
of the enemy and the spiritual armor listed in the New Testament; it is designed
with great accuracy:
v
The
enemy has a 5 point strategy that he basically tries to use against all people.
This strategy can be seen in Genesis 3 and right through the New Testament. The
5 steps are progressive, they build on one another, but step 5 is “Steal, Kill
and Destroy”. The enemy cannot start at step 5 to steal, kill and destroy, he
has to strategically work himself into position until he can get to step 5.
v
God has given believers Spiritual
Armor that we can use against the strategies of the enemy. Each of the strategic
5 steps of the enemy’s attack has a corresponding Spiritual armor that will completely
neutralize the attacks of the enemy.
v
The
result of implementing the Spiritual Armor is a transformed life of freedom and
intimacy with God; bearing abundant fruit to God’s glory.

Content:
This course basically
consists of three main themes with the common purpose of explaining the Gospel
(the Good News of Jesus Christ):
v
A
personal testimony of life transformation which is intended to encourage
struggling people to realize they are not alone and that their problems are not
unique. There are many people who struggle and do not get the freedom that the
Gospel promised. This testimony will encourage you that it’s within your reach!
v
The
enemy uses the very same strategy against all Christians to prevent life
transformation. Once we notice this strategy; we can withstand these attacks.
v
Detail
how to practically use the spiritual weapons that the Gospel provides in order
to achieve life transformation and neutralize the enemy’s attacks.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
is that through the death and resurrection of Jesus it’s possible for us to be
born again; to get rid of our old, struggling and selfish lives; we get a new
life that we live entirely for Jesus and we get a wonderful Helper (Holy
Spirit). We receive this new life
through faith during baptism. Even though we receive this new life immediately,
it only becomes a reality once our lives are transformed through the truth of
the Word, intimacy with God and loving (serving) people. The effect of a transformed life is that through
the power of Holy Spirit we can look like Jesus and do similar things than
Jesus did, thereby bear fruit to God’s glory.
A.3) What is: The
Gospel Made Simple?
The Gospel Made Simple is a
series of discipleship courses that has a very high focus on Bible truth (because
Jesus said that the truth sets us free Jn8:31), intimacy with God (Jn 15:5) and
loving people (with the help of Holy Spirit). It is very practical; provides a
lot of examples, practical applications and diagrams to make it easy to
understand the Gospel. The following three discipleship courses exist in this
series:

Life
Transformation – Spiritual Warfare: This course focuses on life transformation
by using the spiritual weapons made available through the Gospel (available in
a draft version).
v
God’s
Strategy – My Responsibility: This is the most comprehensive course, discussing
the Gospel in 40 chapters in much detail (draft release early 2015).
v
Family
Life – Work Life: This course focuses on relationships, marriage and parenting
(it is currently in planning), it also focuses on our lives in the business
world and how to conduct business as a true follower of Jesus.
